    Crop Production
The total crop area of 1,116.25 hectares represents only 21.37 percent of the total area of the municipality. These are planted to 6 types of major crops with vegetables (32.52%) and fruits (27.77%) considered dominant as crops in terms of area. Rice has the second smallest crop area next to root crops but 78.45 percent of its area is irrigated.
In of production, fruits have the biggest annual yield of 5,890 meteric tons or 490.83 metric tons per month while root crops have the smallest yield of 36.50 metric tons annually or 3.04 metric tons per month.
Despite the use of modern methods of farming, crop production is below the current per capita requirements for cereals, root crops and vegetables. Only papaya fruits are in surplus and some even grow in plantation for processing at the nearby plant of the Philippine Packing Corporation at Cagayan de oro city.

    Livestock and Poultry

There are three kinds of livestock and poultry that are sold in commercial scales, namely: chicken, swine and cattle. Poultry and livestock population for commercial purposes has a total population of 295,321 heads. Chicken covers 98.20 percent of the total since these are raised in commercial scales as contracted by private firms who have their own chicken dressing plants within the municipality.
Nest to chicken in population is swine that is also sold in commercial basis, cattle is third in terms of population but second in total value. Most of these livestock are sold to the urban center at Cagayan de oro city and at the municipal public market, while some are reserved for special occasions or emergency purposes.

    Fisheries
Due to  the presence of medium and heavy industries within the coastal zone,  only about one (1) ton of first to third class of species of fish the previous are  caught within the vilanueva waters from Balacanas in the southwest to Looc in the eastern part. A total of 36.120 metric tons of fish ranging from sword fish to tuna were caught by both municipal and transient fishermen from adjacent municipalities. The local fishermen are using three (3) kinds of fishing gears, namely; gillnets, hook and line and mesh. The second type has several variations improvised by fishermen to suit different kinds of fish. However, domestic catch can not cope up the fish requirements of the population of the municipality.
